Demon Slayer: Infinity Casttle is now the biggest box office success of an anime film of all time. The franchise of Demon Slayer has raised over 555 million dollars worldwide, surpassing its own record with Mugen Train.
It was hard to believe, but Ufotable has done it again. The studio can proudly proclaim for the second time that its movie is the biggest blockbuster in the history of anime filming. In Japan, it has grossed 229.85 million dollars, and in the international market, propelled by Crunchyroll and Sony, over 269 million dollars.
Paul Dergarabedian, head of market trends at Comscore, said that Infinity Train may influence a change in the cinema’s movie offerings. “I think studio and theater executives should be very happy that, if this becomes a trend and not an anomaly, it will add another category of films to the repertoire of potential content to be shown on the big screen.”
Infinity Castle is the first film of a trilogy that will bring Demon Slayer’s story to a close. There are no official release dates for the second and third movies, but some people speculate it would be in 2027 and 2029. What we do know it’s Ufotable is going to focus solely in this franchise in order to preserve his technical high quality.
